PRODUCT OVERVIEW

This 155GSM weft knit small mesh is made from 100% polyester and engineered specifically for sportswear that demands high breathability, minimal weight, and a clean, fine-hole appearance. The weft knitted construction gives the fabric excellent crosswise stretch and a soft, drapable hand, while the small mesh openings allow air to circulate freely without excessive sheerness. At 155 grams per square meter, this fabric is truly lightweight – a finished training top or jersey lining weighs only about 120-140 grams, reducing athlete fatigue. The 100% polyester composition provides rapid moisture wicking (sweat evaporates in about 20 minutes) and resists shrinking and wrinkling. For sportswear applications such as lightweight training tops, jersey back panels, cap side inserts, and breathable linings, this weft knit small mesh delivers the perfect balance of airflow, lightness, and durability.

KEY ADVANTAGES

01

Weft knit for soft drape and crosswise stretch

Unlike stiff warp knits, this fabric moves with the body, providing comfort during dynamic sports. The small mesh structure does not restrict movement.

02

155GSM ultra-lightweight

Reduces overall garment weight. Perfect for summer uniforms, travel gear, and warm-weather training.

03

High breathability (250-300 CFM)

Air flows freely through the small openings, keeping athletes cool. Mesh is fine enough to block most dust and debris.

04

Quick drying (20 minutes from soaked)

Sweat evaporates rapidly, even in humid conditions. Ideal for high-intensity sports and multi-session tournaments.

05

Soft hand and smooth surface

The weft knit produces a soft, non-scratchy feel against the skin. No irritation during long wear.

06

Durable enough for sportswear use

Tear strength >22N and snag resistance Grade 3.5 ensure the fabric withstands normal training friction, backpack straps, and gym equipment.

07

Easy care and colorfast

Machine wash cold, hang dry. Resists fading and shrinking. Team colors stay bright.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1

What is the difference between weft knit and warp knit mesh?

Weft knit mesh is produced by a single set of yarns moving horizontally (like hand knitting). It has more crosswise stretch, a softer drape, and is generally more comfortable against the skin. Warp knit mesh is produced by vertical yarn loops, resulting in higher dimensional stability but less stretch and a stiffer hand. For sportswear that requires flexibility and comfort, weft knit is the preferred choice.

2

Is 155GSM thick enough to avoid being see-through?

Dark colors (black, navy, royal, charcoal) are fully opaque even when stretched. Light colors (white, light grey, pastels) may be slightly sheer due to the small openings. For standalone jerseys in light colors, we recommend a lining or choosing a darker shade. For linings or underlayers, the natural sheerness is acceptable.

3

Can this fabric be sublimation printed?

Yes. The 100% polyester weft knit accepts sublimation ink well. The small mesh will create a subtle textured effect in printed areas, but team names, numbers, and logos print cleanly. For full-coverage solid prints, a solid jersey is recommended. We offer a ready-to-sublimate white version of this mesh.

4

Is a recycled polyester version available for this weft knit small mesh?

Yes. We offer a GRS-certified recycled polyester version of this exact 155GSM weft knit small mesh. The recycled yarn is sourced from post-consumer PET bottles. The breathability (250-300 CFM), drying time (20 minutes), tear strength (>22N), and snag resistance (Grade 3.5) are all within 5% of the virgin version. The recycled fabric also maintains the same soft hand and colorfastness. Minimum order for recycled is 800 meters. Please request a recycled swatch and a copy of the GRS certificate for verification.

5

How do I care for garments made from this mesh?

Machine wash cold (30°C) with like colors. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low or hang dry – the quick dry property means line drying takes about 1-2 hours. Do not use fabric softener; it can coat the fibers and reduce breathability. Avoid ironing directly on the mesh. Following these steps, the fabric will retain its performance for over 50 washes.

6

Does the weft knit small mesh shrink after repeated washing?

No. The fabric is pre-shrunk during finishing. Shrinkage is below 2% in both directions after five 40°C machine washes. The mesh openings remain uniform, and the fabric does not distort.
